Investing in gold is a way to protect your self and your investments from various market conditions especially during times of uncertainty. Eeryone should have a little gold in a diversified portfolio. Gold has skyrocked in the last few years providing huge gains for investors. Although prices have gone up, one should never keep gold from your portfolio. When the stock market is down and the economy is looking bleak, investors need to park their money somewhere and why not in gold or other precious metals. The current real estate market in the United States and throughout the world has not helped matters. People want to make sure that they have some type of safety and gold provides that insurance.
Gold goes back many centuries and throughout the ages people have used the yellow metal for trade and barter - good and services. There is currently a huge demand for gold because of emerging markets such as China and India. Let's not forget the Federal Reserve Bank which continues to print money out of thin air which causes inflation. The biggest mining companies in the world are not able to extract and process the gold fast enough to meet the demand. As you can see gold is in high demand. You want to be able to get in while prices are still relatively low.
