Soft Commodities

Soft commodities are things such as sugar, corn, cotton, coffee, cocoa, grains and oranges. There are generally things that are grown. Weather plays a critical role in future prices hence the name the Futures Market. The futures market is where speculators (traders) wishing to lock-in the future prices will buy contracts as they try to predict the future direction of the market and their prices.

Here are few pictures of some common commodities. Visit us often as we write more about how these soft commodities are traded and what the future holds for these precious resources.

Recently there has been a huge problem in the central part of the US where floods have destroyed crops. This will no doubt impact the corn and soybean market as well other commodities. Read your local newspapers or watch financial channels such as Bloomberg tv. They cover the entire markets around the world, Bloomberg is my favorite. I'm sure you've heard how the prices of these commodities have caused riots and protests throughout the world.

Commodities is an excellent way to invest, they are rocky so you need to have the stomach to handle this type of investing, but the rewards are amazing.
